Welcome

If you are a player, parent, supporter, potential player or just visiting our website, may we welcome you to Buxton Junior Football Club.

The Club was formed over 20 years ago and was formally named Cote Heath Juniors FC(Cote Heath being a district of Buxton). However as we wanted to attract players from all districts of the town and the surrounding area along with having a more universally known name, hence the reason why we changed to Buxton Junior FC.

Like most Clubs we started with just the one team and steadily over the years increased the number to about 6 teams, all of which were boys. Throughout this time we have been members of the Rowsley and District League.

The Club continued to be the main source of junior football in the town, while setting standards both on and off the pitch, which are still part of our ethos today. Many people, who built a platform from which the Club could develop, did much of the work in those early days. There are too many to mention them all, but the Club owes so much to people such as Bernard Cope and Mike Dodd who served the Club with distinction over many years.

In those early days, practically anything the Club required or had to do, we had to do ourselves, as there was little outside assistance in terms of professional help. But many local organisations have been more than generous to us and without their help we would not be where we are today.

Currently we have 16 teams (12 boys and 4 girls) and we were the first Club in Derbyshire to be awarded the FA Development Charter Standard. Girls football is now an integral part of the Club and we look forward to having even more teams in the future. The Charter Standard is only awarded to Clubs that operate in an effective manner as demonstrated by the management structure, polices and training for its team officials. In todays world much has changed in that the FA has now recognised that the national game will only get better if the grass roots are improved and the Charter Standard is part of that improvement drive.

Our Club constitution can be found on this website and would urge you to take a few minutes to read it, thereby gaining some understanding of what we are about and what it is we are trying to achieve.

So the Club today is thriving, with approx 200 girls and boys enjoying the wonderful game of football but all of this has not happened overnight and we need even more help today that in the past so if you would like to get involved, dont delay, get in touch today.
