Match Report

The local derby was a close and exciting encounter which resulted in a win for the Cobras. The only goal of the game was virtually the first piece of action and came early in the first half, Dan Mellor with a neat finish from inside the area.

After the goal the game burst into life, with Vikings pushing for an equaliser. The end to end football saw Vikings nearly score when a breakaway run and cross from Lewis Gannon gave Harry Griffin the chance to score but he was denied by the brave keeping of Jamie Page.

Thomas Lisser was looking sharp for Cobras but he was well dealt with by the Vikings defence. Dan Taylor could have put the Cobras two up were it not for a brilliant double save from 'keeper Jackson Baker.

Vikings continued to push forward in the second half for the elusive equaliser with Callum Holmes' effort going agonisingly over and many other shots being cleared off the line and scrambled away, but the Cobras fought bravely to hold on for their first win of the season.
