Match Report
Buxton Vikings put in another solid display on Saturday and were unlucky to come away with just a point.
The game started with a Buxton goal, Callum Holmes squeezing the ball in the top corner from a very tight angle. He could have increased the score with shots hitting the side netting and going just over.
Vikings defended valiantly with James Tarr’s confident handling in goal, but couldn't prevent the equaliser just before half time. Jack Tomlinson then almost put Vikings 2-1 up, his shot just going agonisingly wide. The Viking’s ensured the game remained level at half time through great defending from Tiernan McDonald, Elliot Booth and Matthew Etchells.
The second half saw more domination from the Vikings create a handful of chances to win the game. Joe turner hit the woodwork after a dazzling run, Harry Griffin's shot was saved after he broke free from the defender and Callum Holmes hit the post. Alexander Hughes and Zach Moss in midfield continued the feed the front line but that elusive winner evaded the Vikings and the game finished a draw.
