Match Report

The Vikings faced a tough match against a CAFA team who had been in the top two all season. Buxton's first attacking move came when Callum Holmes drove at the Cougars defence but he couldn't apply a finishing touch. In a very tight game defenders Lewis Gannon, Jack Tomlinson and captain Tiernan McDonald stood firm against the tough CAFA forwards and were unlucky to concede what proved to be the only goal of the game - an unfortunate own goal. Buxton battled hard to get back into the game with Harry Griffin, James Tarr and Callum Holmes combining well with good support from midfielders Callum Snook, Alex Hughes and Matthew Etchells, but they could not find the elusive equaliser. As the Vikings pushed forward a chance broke to CAFA but stand in 'keeper Zach Moss pulled off an excellent save to keep the score at 1-0, and that is what it finished.
